Plugin: Disqus Comments System

Disqus is a free comments platform that helps you build an active community from your website's audience. Maian Weblog supports disqus to enable visitors to leave comments about journals. Disqus enables you to moderate comments and fully manage your comments system via the attractive Disqus administration interface. Enabling Disqus in Maian Weblog is very simple.

1 Sign up for a new free account at Disqus.com. You should enter the domain where your blog is installed or going to be installed NOT the full path TO the blog. So, if your blog is at 'http://www.example.com/blog/', you would enter 'example.com'.

2 Access your Maian Weblog administration interface and navigate to:

Enter your Disqus short name into the box provided and also a category ID if applicable.

Disqus is now enabled. You can totally disable Disqus again by removing the short name from the settings.

To manage your comments log into your Disqus account. Click 'Admin > Settings' to manage your comments settings. It is recommended you enable approval for comments. Other options are available to you as well. There are no admin options for Disqus within Maian Weblog. If you need to make any changes to the javascript in Maian Weblog, edit the following file:

content/*theme*/html/disqus.htm

If you are testing the system on localhost, make sure this is in the allowed domains list at Disqus.

Disqus provide a number of widgets which you can add on any page in your blog, this includes any new pages you create in the Maian Weblog administration area. These widgets can provide useful stats and other useful information.

To get your widget code, log into your Disqus account and click 'Admin > Tools' from the menu. Note that widgets are optional and aren`t required. If you are happy with the system as it is, don`t change anything.

The Disqus system may be buggy in Internet Explorer 6 & 7 as they don`t support the indexOf method for the Array prototype. Maian Weblog does NOT support older browsers.
